Conceptual Radiology

Monthly Academic & Clinical Update for Radiology Residents

May Highlights

eConceptual App  ·  India Edition

A Month of Concepts, Cases & Consistent & Learning

Inside this issue: high-yield academic sessions, structured learning resources, and platform features designed to strengthen conceptual understanding, image interpretation, and examination performance. With back-to-back academic sessions and comprehensive study resources, the emphasis remained on consistent, structured preparation.

Building Strong Foundations for Better Reporting

Radiology is much more than identifying findings on an image. Every accurate diagnosis begins with a clear understanding of anatomy, physics, pathology, and clinical correlation.

Throughout May, Conceptual Radiology continued its focus on helping residents strengthen these foundations through focused academic sessions and structured learning resources. The goal remained simple—to make difficult concepts easier to understand, retain, and apply in both examinations and day-to-day reporting.

App Based Academic Sessions

Learning That Goes Beyond Image Interpretation

This month featured a series of high-yield sessions covering important concepts across radiology subspecialties. From radiology physics and musculoskeletal imaging to congenital anomalies and ultrasound correlations, the sessions were designed to simplify complex topics and improve clinical reasoning.

Sessions Covered This Month

01 Physics MCQs Everyone Gets Wrong – TLD Explained in 10 Minutes

02 Folliculometry Made Easy: Ovulation & Hormones

03 CAKUT: Classification, Imaging & Clinical Significance

04 Splenic Artery: Anatomy & Imaging Correlation

05 Patella Alta – Correct Radiological Evaluation

Featured Session

Physics MCQs Everyone Gets Wrong –  TLD Explained in 10 Minutes

Thermoluminescent Dosimeters (TLDs) remain one of the most frequently tested topics in radiology physics examinations, yet many residents find the concept difficult to understand and remember.

In this session, Dr. Zainab Vora simplified the topic by covering:

  • The principle of thermoluminescence and radiation dose measurement
  • Commonly used TLD materials such as Lithium Fluoride and Calcium Sulphate
  • Understanding the Glow Curve and its significance
  • Radiation exposure monitoring and interpretation
  • Different filters used in TLD badges and their practical applications
  • Annealing and reusability of TLD badges

Rather than focusing on isolated facts, the session explained the logic behind the concept, helping residents understand how TLDs function in real-world radiation monitoring while also strengthening preparation for FRCR, DNB, MD, and other radiology examinations.

Closing Note

Consistency, Interpretation & Conceptual Strength

Success in radiology is built on a combination of conceptual clarity, disciplined revision, and regular exposure to clinically relevant cases.

This month’s highlights—particularly the session on Thermoluminescent Dosimeters—demonstrate how even the most challenging concepts become manageable when approached through structured learning.

Every session, case discussion, and learning resource is designed with one goal: helping residents become more confident in both examinations and clinical practice.

Continue learning. Continue reporting. Continue improving.
