Physics MCQs Everyone Gets Wrong – TLD Explained in 10 Minutes
Thermoluminescent Dosimeters (TLDs) remain one of the most frequently tested topics in radiology physics examinations, yet many residents find the concept difficult to understand and remember.
In this session, Dr. Zainab Vora simplified the topic by covering:
- The principle of thermoluminescence and radiation dose measurement
- Commonly used TLD materials such as Lithium Fluoride and Calcium Sulphate
- Understanding the Glow Curve and its significance
- Radiation exposure monitoring and interpretation
- Different filters used in TLD badges and their practical applications
- Annealing and reusability of TLD badges
Rather than focusing on isolated facts, the session explained the logic behind the concept, helping residents understand how TLDs function in real-world radiation monitoring while also strengthening preparation for FRCR, DNB, MD, and other radiology examinations.
